2011 ART ADVENTURE CAMPS
Art Adventure Camp: Ages 6-12; Limit: 20 students; Ratio 1:10
NEW!
Art Adventure Camps for ages 6-12 will run from 8:30am-3pm and will be lead by a professional art instructor. After-care will be available for those looking for full-day care from 3-5:45pm. Camp themes change weekly and are age-specific.
Note: All Art Activities are at Creative Arts, 25 Woburn St., Reading.
Camp: 8:30am - 3pm (drop-off: 8:30-9am)
After-Care: 3pm - 5:45pm (pick-up: 5:30-5:45pm)
Art Exhibit: Each week-long camp will culminate in an art exhibit & reception at 2:30pm on Friday. Please invite friends and family to celebrate your child's creativity!
It is recommended that students dress for mess or bring a large art shirt to wear. Smocks are available, but still be prepared for mess. Remember to dress for the mess!
June 27 - July 1: Just Sculpt It! with Jamie McDonough
Monday & Tuesday Session - Just Sculpt It: Moveable Forms
These sculptures move! Look at artists that use motors, wind, gravity or balance to make dramatic sculptures. Then, create your own moving sculptures! What will you create?
Wednesday & Thursday Session - Just Sculpt It: Animal Homage
Utilizing recycled materials students use imagination and principles of art & design to construct animals or other organic forms. Look at artists that use recycled materials or elements of nature to create fantastic sculptures!
Friday Session - Just Sculpt It: Shadows & Light
Some artists build sculptures that use light and shadow to create cool designs. Using imagination, paper, wire and other materials, students create unique and interesting shadow designs or scenes.
Tuition: Full Week - $245*; Mon. & Tues. OR Wed. & Thurs - $105*; Fri. only - $55*

July 5 - 8 (4 days): Cave Paintings to Picasso with Jamie McDonough
Tuesday & Wednesday Session - Really, Really Old Art!
Did you know cave men were artists? Learn to draw like a caveman, sculpt like the Greeks and paint frescos like the Romans! Students become amateur art historians as they examine ancient artwork and create their own historically inspired pieces.
Thursday & Friday Session - Art Investigators
Students become art investigators to solve the case of the misplaced art! From Renaissance to Post-Modernism, students explore works by daVinci through Picasso to find a lost painting. Looking at clues from different art periods & creating their own art, students solve the puzzle of the missing painting!
Tuition: Full Week - $196*; Tues. & Wed. OR Thurs. & Fri. - $105*

July 11 - 15: Ancient Egypt with Jamie McDonough
Explore the wonders of Ancient Egypt with art and imagine how the Pharaohs lived. Make an ancient Egyptian headdress, jewelry, paint scrolls and learn the art of mummification! Draw, paint and sculpt during this exciting week. Art show on the last day of camp.

July 18 - 22: Villians & Heroes with Jamie McDonough
Crash! Bang! Zoom! Create your own character, comic strip or graphic story using a favorite comic book or graphic novel for inspiration. Learn the process of comic creation from idea to story board along with illustration techniques. Experiment with ink, colored pencils, watercolors and more. Art show on the last day of camp.
Tuition: $245 + Family Registration Fee* (after-care, additional $30)
July 25 - 29: Mixed Bag Media with Nedret Andre
This camp takes mixed-media art to a new level! Experiment with different media, materials, methods and designs to create unique projects. Design color patterns by tye-dying a shirt, build costumes and sculptures, and paint masterpieces. Bring a T-shirt to tie-dye and dress for the mess. Art show on the last day of camp.
Tuition: $245 + Family Registration Fee* (after-care, additional $30)
August 1 - 5: Masters & Mediums with Dennis Hart
Explore 2D & 3D media by drawing, painting and sculpting! Create artwork inspired by the Artistic Masters as you experiment with paint, pencil, clay, paper and other materials. Art show on the last day of camp.

*The Family Registration Fee is $15 per family for the summer and is non-refundable. There is a multiple camp/family discount of $5 off for each full-week summer camp registration after the first camp.
