MESSAGE FROM EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR JENNIFER HART I encourage you to become even more involved in the arts this year, our 30th Anniversary. Stretch your creativity and expand your horizons. Involve the whole family; try a new art. If you’re a music parent, then try an instrument yourself or maybe check out the adult visual art classes. Maybe your child is in a theatre class, but has also been eyeing the painting classes or the piano – why not give them a shot at being the next Picasso or Bach?! In addition to the wide array of lessons, classes and workshops being offered (and yes, more are continually added throughout the year!) Creative Arts also has plenty of opportunities to enjoy the arts - Student Performance Nights, Art Exhibitions, Jazz Night & Auction, Mystery Dinner Theatre and more. Events are listed on our website, www.creativeartsforkids.org, as well as on www.theculturalconnection.info. We are also always looking for advocates of the arts to serve on the Board of Directors, help with fundraising, or help us in our search for a new home that will become a community arts & cultural center. There is so much going on; so many ways for you to become involved! I hope to see you soon! About Us Creative Arts was founded in 1978 by a group of local parents concerned about arts in the community. Their goal was to serve elementary school children with enrichment programs, primarily in the visual arts. During the next ten years, programs were expanded to include music and adult classes. To accommodate the expansion, space was rented in a local church, creating a center for arts education. Professional staff was gradually added, and in 1988 Creative Arts became a member of the National Guild of Community Schools of the Arts. Today Creative Arts continues to be the "center for arts" in Reading and other local communities. Continuing our mission of fostering a passion for the Arts, we provide cultural services to over 500 families from thirty communities year-round. Our music program includes Suzuki Talent Education Program for violin, viola, and piano, and traditional music instruction on all band and orchestral instruments as well as voice and piano. The visual arts program features adult classes and an array of programs for children in all mediums. New classes and workshops have been added for all ages and abilities. The theatre program has also expanded, offering classes to children as young as 3 years old. Due to high demand and space needs Creative Arts holds various off-site lessons and classes at Andover's West Parish church and various elementary schools. During the summer, Creative Arts offers activities from art, theatre and music camps to private music lessons. Feel like you may lack artistic ability, but still interested in being involved and appreciating the arts? Creative Arts always seeks volunteers to help with administrative assistance, fundraising, and more - let us know what skill you would like to share! Also, many performances and exhibits are open to the public year-round. Check out our calendar of events and mark your social calendar! |
