MUSIC CLASSES / WORKSHOPS / CAMPS

Create Your Ideal Vocal Audition 
Vocal instructor and life coach team up with Creative Arts to offer a fresh look at how to approach an audition! Technical information and feedback will be combined with a deeper look at what is truly in your way of showing ALL of your talents and gifts.

Learn new creative ways to improve your audition, in a setting that is safe, experiential, interactive and FUN! Your inner critic is NOT invited - 'it' must wait in the parking lot!

Adults and ages 14+; Saturday, July 18, 2009, 1:00-3:30pm 
Tuition $60/per session, $5 registration fee
SPECIAL: Register BEFORE July 10th and pay only $50 per student!
Instructors: Andrea Loretz-Frey, Soprano & Vocal Instructor at Creative Arts, and Amy Falk, Life Coach

Build and Play Kalimba
Students will build and learn to play their very own kalimba! Native Africans made this kind of instrument from gourds with cane prongs, but we will build a much more durable and clear sounding thumb piano from a kit. Until the student's kalimba is constructed we will use one from the instructor's collection to begin learning how to play. Tuition includes one-on-one instruction an all necessary building materials.
$240 for 6 half hour sessions scheduled at convenience of student & instructor;

Blues and Boogie-woogie Piano
Students will learn 12-bar blues, blues scales, and boogie-woogie patterns. Focus will be on ear-training, improvisation, and fun! This is a great way to keep piano skills honed over the summer for those students who would like a break from reading classical repertoire. $210 for 6 sessions, scheduled at the convenience of student and instructor. Parent Studio
This course is for parents who want to keep up with their kids’ progress or for adults who want to retrieve the piano skills from their childhood lessons.  Music is for all ages!! $210 for 6 sessions, scheduled at the convenience of student and instructor. Roald Wilson, Instructor.

Musical Discoveries
Students will explore the sounds and structure of both traditional and unconventional instruments while being exposed to a diverse musical repertoire.  Instruments may include marimba, hammered dulcimer, Appalachian dulcimer, guitar, harmonica, mandolin, tone drum, steel drum, etc.
6 sessions, scheduled at the convenience of student and instructor beginning the week of June 23.  Roald Wilson, Instructor.

Piano Technique
This course will focus on technical exercises – no reading, no assignments, just a technical workout including scales, Fast Five, trills and tremolos, glissandos, Spider, Butterfly, Hanon patterns, Dohnany exercises, triplet exercise, dynamics exercise, etc.
6 sessions, scheduled at the convenience of student and instructor beginning the week of June 23.  Roald Wilson, Instructor.

Holistic Vocals Master Class
Geared towards the more accomplished singers who is already well-versed in their craft and wants to be able to see the world around them through new eyes. Ongoing 1 hour classes, scheduled at the convenience of student and instructor, beginning the week of June 23.  $64.80/wk.  M.D. Troiano instructor.

Music Theory for the Contemporary Musician
Have fun while learning theory! Learn how to apply music theory to Rock, Punk, Pop & Folk Music. Theory is not scary, in fact it's fun!! For ages 12+; call 781.942.9600 for dates & times.  $115.  M.D. Troiano, instructor.

Acoustic Lounge
For all instrumentsWork together as a group to perform Rock, Punk or Pop songs. We will play the latest music, have fun and sound like a professional band! Salute the Boston Folk Scene and play acoustic arrangements of our favorite songs. Aes 12+; call 781.942.9600 for dates & times. $230.  M.D. Troiano, instructor.

Contemporary A Cappella Group
For singers ages 8 and up. Students will learn how to work as a group and sing close-harmony and dissonance to the tune of modern music. Learn intervallic relationships, complex rhythms and music theory. Even learn how to deconstruct a song and arrange it for voices instead of instruments; call 781.942.9600 for dates & times.  $172.50.
