Theatre Programs
The Theatre Department is dedicated to supplying high quality theare instruction to students age 2.9-18. By building self-esteem and self awareness in students; providing a sense of accomplishment, Creative Arts Theatre faculty makes every effort to instill a passion for the performing arts.

Why are the performing arts important to kids?
"[The performing arts] are so important because they enable kids to express their feelings and emotions. Kids can be a totally different personality; they can put themselves in someone else's shoes. It is also important because for a little while you don't have to worry about what is happening in your life, all you think about is the feelings your character is experiencing." - Creative Arts student, Leah, age 11, 2007 Renzel R. Rongone Scholarship Winner.

The Music Department helps students to express themselves and communicate freely through music, both individually and in groups, and to become literate consumers of music.

Instruction is designed to teach students how to respect their instrument, handle it carefully and practice correct posture; to help them learn the process of becoming proficient on their instrument through efficient practice; and to coach them on presenting themselves in front of an audience in a relaxed, pleasant manner.

Instruments include: Appalachian & Hammered Dulcimer, Cello, Clarinet, Fiddle, Flute, Guitar, Marimba, Percussion, Piano, Saxophone, Viola, Violin & Voice.

Suzuki Music Program
Shinichi Suzuki (1898-1998) was a violinist, educator, philosopher and humanitarian. He devoted his life to the development of the method he called Talent Education. Dr. Suzuki believed that "Musical ability is not an inborn talent, but an ability which can be developed. Any child who is properly trained can develop musical ability, jas as all children develop the ability to speak their mother tongue. The potenital of every child is unlimited."

Some basic priciples of the Suzuki Program include: students may begin at a young age (as young as 3); parents play an active role in the learning process; children become comfortable with the instrument before learning to read music; pieces are refined through constant review; and students perform frequently as individuals and in groups.

Instruments include: Flute, Piano, Viola & Violin

Art Programs - Ages 2.9+
The Visual Arts Department strives to help students express themselves through community based art projects, to build self-esteem, gain an appreciation for the arts and to create a learning experience by growing indivdual artistic skills.

The actual process of creating is of greater importance than the end product. The process allows students of all ages and abilities to individually epxress themselves and strengthens their creative problem solving. Students are given the tools to build their skills, techniques and ideas that make their art unique and personalized.

Our goal is to teach each student how to enjoy, appreciate and create art.
