ADULT & TEENS ART CLASSES & WORKSHOPS
August 16-20: You can choose individual sessions or sign-up for the entire week. Ages 8-16. (Note: there will not be an exhibit for this week.) Tuition: 9am-12:30pm ($32 per day or $155/wk); or 1-5:30pm ($38 per day or $185/wk); or all day, 9am-5:30pm ($60/day or $295/wk). Lead Instructor: Jamie McDonough
Monday Morning: Drawing Light
What is chiaroscuro? How do artists 'draw' light?! Learn to use light and shadow to create depth, volume and drama in your artwork. Students will also study works by Vermeer and other similar artists.
Monday Afternoon: Mini Masterpieces
Artists have trading cards, too! ATC, Artists Trading Cards, is a new artistic movement where artists create and trade mini masterpieces! As artists, students will create their own trading cards using mixed media.
Tuesday
Morning: If Paint Could Talk ….
What would it say? Artwork is another way to tell a story or communicate and idea. Students explore different artists and artwork to see what their paintings say before creating artwork of their own using different paint media and techniques. What will you say with paint?
Tuesday Afternoon: Mixed Media – Sculpted Collage
Using different materials and mediums from acrylic paint to zippers, students create 3D sculptures to make statements or tell stories. A variety of artists and their artwork are also explored.
Wednesday
Morning: Memory Boxes
Transform a dull box into a work of art! Use paint, collage, fabric or other materials to create a personal memory box.
Wednesday Afternoon: Scrap-Tastic!
Use mixed-media to turn ordinary pages into a photo-log work of art! Bring your favorite photos! Pages will be 6"x6" or 12"x12".
Thursday
Morning: Wanna Fling Paint?
Why is modern art so weird? It's all about creating an emotional response. Explore different modern and abstract artists like Jackson Pollack and learn about their inspirations. Use color, texture and shape to say something about your life, emotions, imagination, nature or other inspirations!
Thursday Afternoon: Stuffies
Design, sew, decorate and stuff an stuffed animal of your creation! You are only limited by your imagination!
Friday Morning: Marbling Mayhem!
Convert blank, colorless paper into dramatic works of art using marbling technique! Convert marbleized paper and fabric into books, bookmarks and more in this fun workshop! Crazy patterns and colors encouraged!
Friday Afternoon: Let’s Stab A Book!
In this fun workshop, students make books using the Japanese stab bound book technique. Each student will design, create and sew a book by hand! Books can be used for sketching, journals or mini scrap books.
Private Art Lessons Ages 8-Adult
Have up Coming Art Show? Preparing a portfolio? Want to work on specific art skills?
Then one-on-one art lessons might just be for you. Lessons are scheduled with the art teacher and are six week sessions.
