PRIVATE MUSIC LESSONS & ENSEMBLES (all ages & abilities)
Private Lessons (Suzuki or Traditional)
Students are encouraged to sign-up for 8 lessons during the summer, unless other arrangements are made with your instructor. The summer registration fee is $15 per family. Per lesson cost:
30 min., $36.50 per lesson
45 min., $52.65 per lesson
60 min., $67.50 per lesson

Summer Band Program: July 12 - August 7, 2011
This summer program gives children in grades 4-6 (ages 9-11) the opportunity to pick up a band instrument, learn to play, learn how to play in ensemble and perform for the community. In partnership with the Reading Civic Concert Band, excellent instruction is offered along with the opportunity to work with a "real" community band to bring the fun, full experience of music making with friends.
The Summer Band Program invites student that are beginner through advanced in the following instruments: clarinet, saxophone, percussion, flute and brass. The morning is broken up into 45-min small-groups with hands-on instruction on the chosen instrument, a 45-min session of musical games, story-telling or other musical activities, followed by 30-min snack time (outdoors, weather permitting), and ending with 1 hour group rehearsal to practice performance pieces.
The program meets on Tuesday, Wed and Thursdays starting on July 12 and ending Aug. 7 with a concert either at Memorial Park or Town Square, Reading. The concert will give the children a chance to play some selections on their own, and one piece with the Reading Civic Concert Band.
Practice/Class Location: Parker Middle School Band Room, Reading
Time/Days: Tues, Wed & Thurs, 9am-noon; Concert Rehearsal Sun, Aug. 7th 4-6pm, Concert at 6pm
Tuition: $270 (includes non-refundable registration fee). Instruments/rentals and method book will be provided by the student/parent. Instruction for where & how to rent instruments will be provided in the registation packet.
Alcyon Summer Music Workshop at Creative Arts: August 15-19, 2011
Alcyon Chamber Ensemble’s summer chamber music program, “Summer Music”, will return to Reading’s Creative Arts for the week of August 15th through 19th. Designed for young musicians ages 8-18, all instrumentalists accepted into the program will be placed in chamber ensembles and coached twice a day by members of the Alcyon Chamber Ensemble. Other classes include Yoga, Chorus, Theory, Music History and Improvisation. The week concludes with a concert on Friday afternoon, August 19th.
Tuition: $495 + Family Registration Fee ($475 for students currently enrolled at Creative Arts)
Extended Care Option: Extra $30 for the week; Hours: 3:30-5:30pm
