2011 THEATRE CAMPS, WORKSHOPS & MUSICALS
All students must have completed kindergarten in order to participate in all Theatre camps. Theatre camp locations and times listed under each week. No previous acting, singing or artistic experience are required for any of these camps. All students have speaking roles during performances.
Titles of show's listed are still awaiting royalty confirmation and are subject to change.

JUNE 27-30
No theatre activity this week. BUT check out the art workshops available this week!

JULY 5-15 – Mini-Musical: Enchanted Sleeping Beauty
Stay tuned for description details. Free performance on the last day at 4:30pm.
Ages: 6-13; Limit: 30 students
Tuition: $535 + Family Registration Fee* (plus a $5 pizza party fee to be paid to instructor on first day)
Days/Time:
9 days, Tues, July 5 thru Fri, July 15, drop-off 8:15-8:30am, pick-up 5:30-5:45pm, free performance last day at 4:30pm.
Location: Union Congregational Church, 148 Haverhill St., North Reading

JULY 18-22 – Theatre Workshop: Drama Week at Coolidge Middle School
This week of workshops is being held at the Birch Meadow Elementary School Stage, 27 Arthur B. Lord Drive, Reading. Hours: 9am-3pm (drop-off: 8:45-9am, pick-up: 2:45-3pm); Instructor: Kirsten Brown
Per Day Tuition: $55 first child, $50 second child (registration fee included)
Per Week Tuition: $260 first child, $245 second child (registration fee included)
After-Care (3-6pm) Tuition: $25/$20 daily or $80/$77 for the week
Monday: Acting 101 . . . All the world's a stage! Practice or learn acting basics such as pantomine, stage direction, scene work, character development, projection, using props and analyzing a script.
Tuesday: Story Play . . . Students work together in groups to study, rehearse and perform short scenes from favorite fables, fairy tales or children's stories.
Wednesday: Acting 102 . . . Learn or review using props and costumes to enhance character development in different scenes or skits. Students also learn about the audition process and are expected to understand and build upon basic theatre skills.
Thursday: Imaginative Acting! . . . "I'm ready for my close-up, Mr. Demille!" Go behind the scenes of theatre by working in groups to write, act in and direct short scenes.
Friday: Laugh Out Loud!
. . . Perfect for your drama king or queen! By learning to listen and observe other actors, students use their own unique abilities, past experiences and motivations to create different characters through games, sc
enes and hilarious skits.

JULY 25-29 – Older Theatre Camp: Title TBA

Ages 10-16; Limit: 35 students

Monday: Acting 101 for Musical Theatre . . . But first you gotta act! Students practice or learn acting baskics through games, skits and scenese.
Tuesday: Musical Theatre Choreography . . . Then, you dance! Learn basic dance steps and choreography commonly used in musical theatre programs. Acting skills are also incorporated into the day with fun games.
Wednesday: Musical Theatre Boot Camp . . . Students pair singing and acting while rehearsing a musical scene with a vocal coach. Acting skills are also incorporated using theatre games to keep everyone laughing!
Thursday: Introduction to Musical Theatre Auditions . . . No experience necessary! Students work in groups with a vocal coach to learn basic singing technique, how to pick an audition piece and, most importantly, to relax and have fun! Actin
