Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteering your time, energy, and talents to Creative Arts can make a world of difference for us and all those that we touch! There are many short-term and long-term volunteer opportunities available. Some may be done from the comfort of your home. Office Assistant

We have an immediate need for someone to staff the office during the week (hours available: 10am-8pm, M-F) and on Saturdays (9:00 am - 3:00 pm). Minimum 2 hour per week commitment. Responsibilities include: answering phones, taking messages and assisting teachers and families. Great customer service skills required.

Marketing Assistant

Help us market our programs and events! Design flyers and brochures. Distribute flyers and brochures to area businesses and libraries. Distribution towns include Reading, North Reading, Wakefield, Stoneham, Wilmington and the other 25 communitites we serve - responsibilities for all towns not required. Suggest other ways to help get the word out!

PR Assistant

Write press releases about upcoming events and programs. Write special interest stories about instructors, students or the arts. Work with various newspapers to get the press releases published.

Photographer &/or Videographer

Photographer or Videographer needed to take photos/videos of events for use online, in print, and on TV. Cover all events or just one - every bit helps! The goal is to update photos in online publications/website, submit photos with press releases, create video for use online and presentation on Reading Community Television or other public access stations. Must provide your own equipment. Must be able to edit your own video.

Grant Research & Writing

Interested in learning how to research & write grants, or want to share your skills at grant research & writing? Then volunteer at Creative Arts!

Fundraising & Events

Creative Arts hosts free monthly events and various fundraisers throughout the year. Assistance is always welcome - from helping to set-up the room to leading a committee, there is something for everyone! Other ways to help include: solicitating sponsorships or auction/raffle items, following up on sponsor/donor letters, managing volunteers, helping with decorations, picking-up/delivering items, and the list goes on.

IT Coordinator

Creative Arts does not have an IT department, so input and assistance in this area is always welcome. Knowlegeable person needed to do a monthly "cleaning" of computer systems would be appreciated. Knowledge of networking also helpful.

Database Entry

Our volunteer Marketing Coordinator is setting up a new FileMaker Pro database. Assistance in transfering information and future management of the database welcomed. FileMaker experts also welcomed to help set-up database.

Cleaning & Organizing

No, we do not have a cleaning service. Yes, we welcome anyone's assistance in helping us keep our areas clean & organized! Cleaning and organizing of the office and the art room is an on-going chore. Whether it's once a week, once a month or once a year, your attention to detail would be appreciated!

Envelope Stuffing & Labeling

A few times a year we do mailings that require a lot of envelope stuffing & labeling. Please let us know if you would like to be put on the "call list".

Facilities Committee

The Board of Directors is forming a Facilities Committee to assist us in lease negotiations, improving current facilities, and exploring/researching alternative lease (or purchase) options. The Facilities Committee is currently chaired by Advisory Board Member Deb Gilburg.

Advisory Board

Share your professional expertise with us through the Advisory Board. This Board is tapped when their knowledge is needed. Bi-annual meeting attendance is required. Support at events, fundraisers and participation in the annual appeal is strongly encouraged. For a more detailed description, click here.

Board of Directors

Creative Arts' governing body is the Board of Directors. The Directors provide oversight of the organization and are leaders in strategically carrying out the mission and vision. The Board meets monthly with the exception of summer months.
